Students in the Technical Report Writing class of Associate Professor Kelly Webb Bronstrup in the College of Applied Science and Technology visited Rockwell Automation on April 17. Students took the Roo Express to Rockwell and then toured the facility, witnessed lab testing, and participated in a panel discussion with recent engineering graduates who are employed there.

Lynn Nickels, a global communications writer at Rockwell, organized the day. Nickels and her colleague, Anthony Sorbello, an experienced lead engineer, visited Webb Bronstrup’s classes on April 6 to share their professional writing experiences, which coincided with a class project that was under way.

Webb Bronstrup often links the students in her writing classes to outside organizations, such as NASA Glenn, so that they can experience work situations, practice writing related to their respective fields, grow as professionals, and make personal connections with organizations for co-ops, internships and, ultimately, jobs.
